NPS Humber is a joint venture between Hull City Council and the national NPS Group. The company provides a full property service, ranging from asset management, design, energy management through sustainable design and property maintenance (FM), an overall property consultancy service for public and private sector clients. NPS's experience in the education sector is one of the main reasons that the company are preparing to be involved in Hull's Building Schools for the Future (BSF) scheme.
NPS's local education team in Hull has contributed to the education sector in the city by supporting the Hull BSF team through the business case stage to secure the LEP. NPS bring a knowledgeable understanding of how projects should be successfully delivered - from start to finish. With considerable experience in the Building Schools for the Future programme, gained from their partnership with Hull BSF and the Engage North Lincolnshire LEP, NPS is perfectly placed to assist Hull Esteem Consortium with their own ambitious plans.
John Elliott, assistant director at NPS, said: "The Building Schools for the Future project is very important to Hull, as it has the potential to support the local economy and the education setup in the city. It is essential that it is all companies that receive the benefits, both blue-collar and professional companies.
"It would mean a lot for NPS to be part of such a groundbreaking project in Hull. One of the positive impacts would be the chance for us to undergo a recruitment drive, which would allow us to engage local apprentices. This would help us grow our business, whilst putting something back into the city. As a large organisation in the city, we see it as our duty to make our community relations a priority, and the chance to give more local people a route into the industry would be ideal.
"We are a multi-disciplinary practice, focusing on architecture, mechanical and electrical engineering, quantity surveying, energy conservation and structural engineering. As well as this, we also have specialists who can deal with asbestos surveying, building surveys and maintenance contracting, so we are able to provide a full range of services should Hull Esteem Consortium call upon our skills.
"NPS are active in a number of sectors, particularly the education sector, which allows us to confidently plan for becoming part of the supply chain for the Hull BSF project. We have designed two new primary schools in Hull, Maybury and Greenway. We have also worked on most of the secondary schools in Hull, as well as numerous children centres, primary schools across not only the Hull and North Lincolnshire area, but as far afield as Norfolk and London.
